Winter's Idyll

500 miles away from home and an hour's ferry ride across a frigid Penobscot Bay, North Haven, Maine makes an unlikely winter destination.  But, a beautiful sunset inspires and a visit with my son, Marco, who, as if heeding his own inner nautical siren, has chosen to call this place home---at least for now, makes it all worthwhile.

With nothing to do but cook ourselves comfort food in the Nebo Lodges restaurant kitchen which was closed for the winter or drive down icy roads in search sunsets and winter island treasures, or gaze out the window to the steely sea below, were were content with our unusual winter's idyll.
